To All Oakland A's Fans! - 04/26/2002
[an error occurred while processing this directive] Continuing with our efforts to keep a close tab on the new ballpark process, we just found out tonight (Thursday) that a JPA meeting to discuss (and possibly vote) on the proposed A’s lease extension is happening this upcoming Tuesday, April 30, at 8:30 a.m. It will take place in downtown Oakland at 1221 Oak St., 5th Floor, in the Alameda County Supervisors’ Conference Room. (Map Quest link for directions is below) Needless to say, getting this lease extension done is a crucial step in laying the groundwork for getting the new ballpark drive going. The 2007 extension will, for now, relieve any doubt that the team is leaving town and will allow the city, county, the owners, fans and business community to focus all their efforts on forging the best and most taxpayer-friendly Oakland ballpark plan as possible without the dark cloud of relocation hanging over our heads. Just as we A’s fans did so successfully in both mid-December at the first HOK/JPA meeting, and also at the March 12 rally/city council meeting, we want as big of a fan presence there this Tuesday to keep up the lobbying on the politicians. Wear your A’s hats, jerseys and jackets, as all that green and gold will once again show the JPA and all the politicians that there is a ton of support for keeping the A’s in Oakland. We know 8:30 a.m. is early on a Tuesday, but hey, no one said it’d be easy. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Bring a friend. See you there. Let’s go OAK-LAND!!
