Blue Ribbon Panel explores Port Ballpark!
OAFC BBS - All Topics: Off Field Matters: Blue Ribbon Panel explores Port Ballpark!
Matier & Ross Oakland-The idea would be for the cash-strapped port to sell the land for a badly needed $40 million - a move Quan might now be able to swing after her recent appointments to the Port Commissio. San Jose-The blue-ribbon committee also met a day earlier with San Jose officials about the status of their ballpark plan...just as state Controller John Chiang dispatched a team of auditors to determine, among other things, if the San Jose Redevelopment Agency properly spent $25 million last year to assemble an A's ballpark site after Gov. Jerry Brown had ordered such agencies disbanded. Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/matier-ross/article/Secret-meeting-on-A-s-port-ballpark-plan-3763090.php#ixzz22hLn0z3R
I think it's worthy to note than Clorox CEO Don Knauss was present. Lew tried to isolate Don from the process, but apparently enough MLB owners like the idea of a waterfront park in Oakland
here's the SJ Mercury-News' version of the meetings, complete with quotes from Lew of course: http://www.mercurynews.com/bay-area-news/ci_21242633/baseball-committee-again-secretly-met-both-san-jose
listen the Riaders are leaving the coloseum for santa clara you watch . anyway they should just knock mt davis down rebuild outfeild bleachers the Angels royals way water falls ect then they should devlope the whole area around the stadeum restarants bars ect and have a people mover from hagenburger to middle parking lot so you can party on the street and go right to game somewhat like Giants got .. imagine that street lined with new biz and social places a draw to hang out before a game then a belt people mover like at an airport on a walkway over the entrance to parking lot droping you down near entrance it can work. The best location is still the coloseum itself remodeld. The Raiders are gone MLB knows this there waiting it out.
all the bulshit about jack london . the port of Oakland crap i bet you could knock down the mnt and do everything for 150 million cheap.... the Giants are gonna completly alienate thier fanbase by developing thier parking lot and parking will sky rocket around AT$T there, its gonna come full circle to have a good parking lot next to stadeum like we already have ... fans will enjoy driving in parking in secured lot and taking walkway to street to party and back you could even build buildings right on parking lot for game day for bars, pubs restaurants to eat etc like the raiders have or the state fair has . to many options but to build jack london, port or san jose is stupid. i dont think these ideas sound far fetched and do able n cheap .
Good summary by the Oakland Tribune on the latest Howard Terminal news http://www.insidebayarea.com/top-stories/ci_21250460
I think the waterfront plan will get the blessing of the Selig Controlled Blue Ribbon team...
Author of this article makes some good points, but I think it's other owners pushing Selig to look at downtown/port Oakland. http://mlb.sbnation.com/2012/8/7/3224359/oakland-athletics-ballpark-san-jose-bud-selig
I have been saying for years that MLB does not wat to open the TR can of worms...there are options in Oakland no matter what Wee Willy Wolfy or AN says....B69
Agreed Bubba69...Jason Stark chimes in on what is becoming more & more obvious..."in the words of one baseball official, that moving the A's to San Jose is, most likely, "never going to happen." http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/rumblings120817
Another highlight from the Jason Stark story I just linked "So if the A's aren't bound for San Jose, what is likely to happen to them? Behind the scenes, baseball people are predicting they'll eventually have to give up on this battle and settle for a new, Pittsburgh-size park in Oakland -- and then do their best to beat up on the Giants in interleague play. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/rumblings120817
