The As issued a press release announcing that Chris Townsend will take over the postgame radio show on 860-AM. Robert Buan still works for the As, and he tells me hell still be webcasting games down here in AZ, which is good news for fans.

No...getting rid of him would be good news for A's fans.

There's more info on the A's website, courtesy of Jane Lee, the MLB.com A's writer:

Take a look especially at Ken Pries' comments, keeping in mind that KTRB decided not to do business with Marty Lurie and will have Michael Savage instead before games, also that Buan is NOT a KTRB employee he's an A's employess:

With Townsend officially on board, former postgame host Robert Buan will continue to contribute to the club's show by providing on-site insights and interviews while still acting as the club's broadcasting manager.

"The station did an extensive search to find a host," Pries said, "and they knew they wanted to make a change and do something different. But they still wanted to have Robert involved in some way because he has a great relationship and rapport with players and obviously has a good following.

"The station decided they wanted a different look, a different feel -- but keeping Robert involved is important to keep that continuity going."

Robert is 100 times better than RH. I'm looking forward to a new voice, though.

well, I just heard the first postgame show with Townsend. Seems he got lots of text messages asking what happened to Buan. Townsend did have Buan on briefly.

So far so good. At least he seems to know something about the team.
