Here's what Carl Steward had to say in the Trib-good stuff!:"And now you really better sit down and strap in. The word was that even Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown(aka Horatio Horsehide)was in the house Wednesday night to see what all this commotion was about. But only before he got stuck in Satan's traffic jam out on 880.See Mr. Mayor? You simply build a downyown ballpark, and all you have to do is walk across the street for your evening of euphoria.
Brown isn't dumb. He knows the world is stopping to watch the A's. The poor Giants, the played at PacBore Monday night and might as well have been a second-run movie house showing, "Dude,Where'sMyCar?"
Pretty funny stuff.
Another favorite sign last night:"Steinbrenner can't buy this!!"

Here's the link to Carl Steward's column. It's well worth a read.

And I have no idea if Mayor Brown ever got to the game last night, but I did see Ignacio De La Fuente, all decked out in a suit, escorting an entire delegation of Japanese dignitaries from, I was told Oakland's sister city.

Mr. Schott was again among the crowd sitting at the first row behind the dugout and his luxury box was empty.

There was no question yesterday was a playoff atmostphere and everybody and his sister and mom wanted to be seen there.
