Today's Trib has an article on the current (SOS) state of Uptown.

Hopefully the link works, but it's on the front page of the Trib's homepage. Would've been a heck of a location for a ballpark

"A major part of the process has included deciding exactly what will serve as an anchor for the area. A baseball park for the Oakland A's had been considered, with the Fox serving as an outfield backdrop.

Those plans were stalled last summer when the city entered a 12-month exclusive negotiating agreement with Forest City Enterprises of Cleveland, a group looking to build a housing project uptown.

Claggett said the city will receive design concepts and more detailed financial analyses next month on the housing project, which includes about 775 units."

So half the exclusive negotiating period will have passed by and they're only at the "design concept" phase. Interesting.

If you think they will be breaking ground on housing in the next 6 months I have a couple of bridges to sell you. The uptown ballpark proposal is just as much alive or dead as the Forest City housing proposal. They are both just dreams on paper neither having any financial commitment from anyone. If Schott/Hoffman want the ballpark they have to take the lead, if Forest City wants housing they have to put up (money) or shut up and go back to Cleveland.
