$150m will come from income taxes on future team players' and executives' salaries. $350m will come from private financing and Portland area taxes associated with the team.

Too bad Oakland can't be so creative. But then, guess there are advantages to being the only team in the state. The Oakland politicos seem to have no common sense. Hmmm, not that any of our state legislature does either. :)

This is indeed good news. If the expos relocate to Portland, then Baltimore will preserve their territorial rights. Which means Schott doesn't have a chance to take our beloved A's down to Santa Clara. Which also means McGowan keeps his rights for the Giants.

Now, if we can just get someone to be just as creative to finance a downtown ballpark for the A's!!!

This is what I've been saying all along.

The only territory that could absorb another team is the New Your/New Jersey market and Selig does not have the cajones to open that Pandora box.

Well, apparently it is being discussed ... Expos to NY, because it makes the most sense financially. It is also being mentioned if that were to happen, Gorgie Porgie and Wilpon's litigation would make Al Davis' suits look like kids play. No doubt. :)

Maybe they'll move the Mets to New Jersey, the expos will relocate to Brooklyn (your old stomping grounds, lil) and then they'll buy the name Dodgers from LA and then... oh, what a dream.

Well Selig's worst nightmare is starting to happen...don't look now the Expos are starting to draw some decent crowds. 30,501 yesterday for the Phillies. Wait they're winning and they didn't sell off the stars this year and they start drawing good crowds? Imagine that.

Actually, the Expos have drawn several good crowds this year ... at least for them. Just saw that there will be no decision on them ... sale or otherwise ... before November. That probably means next November!

It will be interesting to see how much the new owners of the club will have to pay mlb for the team ... without Guerrerro and a few others, of course.
