How many think that baseball will allow th A's to relocate to the South Bay if the Expos go to Washington D.C. or Virginia?

here's a tidbit from a recent G. Dickey's column:

A's to San Jose?: If the Montreal Expos are moved to either northern Virginia or Washington, D.C., it will not be a precedent for overturning the Giants' territorial rights in San Jose. When the Peter Magowan group bought the Giants in 1992, one of the conditions of the deal was that no other major- league team could locate in San Francisco, San Mateo or Santa Clara counties. That can't be changed by an owners vote

As Selig has recently stated, this issue has to be resolved between the two ownerships. In other words, the A's owners would have to dish out a lot of money to the Giants owners in order to cover their loss of territorial rights.

Magowan has stated uniquivocably on numerous occasions that he's not open to negotiations on any one-time payment in exchange for opening up the South Bay to the A's. Considering he put up a good chunk of his own dollar and took on substantial debt, as well as relying on significant dollars from the private sector, including much from the South Bay, and allowing for the fact that he was assured that no team would be allowed in the South Bay when he purchased the team, this is a reasonable stance.

I agree. If the expos are allowed to move to DC or Virginia, doesn't necessarily mean the A's have the go ahead.

However, I doubt the Expos are going to either location. I believe they're heading to Portland Or. Where they will become the Portland Rose bud's or the Portland Beavers. Or better yet, Calumets [sic].
