Some interesting analysis from someone who has seen them in the AFL:

Interesting comments indeed. In fact, the comments on Brown pretty much coincide with scouts quoted by BA, with re to his defense. It sounds to me like this guy's only hope of becoming a major league player might be as a fulltime DH ... and that sounds like a distant hope.

Regardless of what Beane says, I think Street will be up here next season. And as I previously suggested, they could offer Dotel a one year deal (arbitration eligible) to be on the safe side, and then if Street is ready by midseason, deal Dotel.

Huston Street. Two innings pitched last nite ... all zeroes, except for 4k's. Thus far, he has posted a 0.64era. In 14ip: 9h, 1bb, 15k's.

From BA. "Huston Street is looking like a good bet to be the first 2005 draftee to make the major leagues." Course, that should read 2004 draftee.

Also from BA. "Best fastball. Street pitched at 88-92mph last spring while battling a groin injury, but he was healthy and touched 93-94mph all summer. His sink and his command make his fastball play better than its velocity."

They should shut him down to get some rest before spring training!

The AFL ends this month. Their championship starts (and ends?) on Nov. 20th. Hopefully, he will not be allowed to entertain winter ball.
