Well, if that does happen I guess I won't be going to too many games. I couldn't imagine getting on the BART all the way to Fremont. It's so easy for me to just get on at the Fruitvale station and get right off at the next stop, or park my car at a parking lot at my own conveinance. I hope Mr. Wolff doesn't consider this. Suburbian ballparks are not in and you hardly see any of the newer parks getting built in a surburban type of setting. If the A's move to Fremont, then Santa Clara and San Jose kinda get what they want because Fremont is closer to them than it is to us here in Oakland.

Just don't get excited with this Fremont deal. There is no deal and there is nothing new about
Supervisor Haggerty, in fact it is quite old and stale.

"I'm not convinced Santa Clara County or San Jose is finished trying to attract the A's," said Haggerty, whose district includes most of Fremont, as well as Pleasanton and Livermore. "Knowing there are vultures out there, I want to do what I can to keep the A's in Alameda County."

He is just trying to light a fire and in fact he is calling Wolff's bluff just as much as IDF did with the Estuary site...
they both want to go on record that they are trying to keep the A's where the A's are more and more showing they don't want to be...

it's a good thang and let him light all the fires they want. Nothing will happen until Wolfsher decide they want to deal in good faith...but please don't hold your breath.

"Las vegas A's" was in the plans all along , this is the feeling i get, watch in next 6 months there will be news of a retractable baseball stadium being built 3 blocks offf strip even though "no team is moving as of yet", right!!!!!!! wolff is no dummie he spent what 2 yrs scouring the east bay for a site then says oakland parking lot then all of a sudden he learns it cannot be done , bullshit the first thing a developer does is find out if other tennants would have any prob with construction ect....

i feel we have been set up since schott was able to fast track wolffs approval so fast with Selig, the men behind baseballl are more corrupt then the mafia.

LAS VEGAS A'S CATCH THE FEVER!!!!!!!!
mlb inc..

Well sactodave, you may be correct on the great interest MLB may have in all that $$$$$ but you're also correct when you said MLB is a mafia...and we all know gambling is very much in the hands of mafiosos...and they may not like to have MLB mafia encroaching and stealing away potential gamblers who would be sitting at a ballpark eating hotdogs instead of losing their gold coins at the casinos.
You know how territotial those mafia guys can be and you know what kind of games they play...it ain't baseball!

Not only that but the television market in LV is not even comparable to OAK/E-Bay. They could sell out the stadium every night but it would not be enough without the TV rev.

My question is, if not Oakland, where? Mike Crowley has even been quoted as saying that the A's may have no choice but to stay in Oakland.

Hey David Alioto...if you read this...

Don't you guys even listen to your sponsor's ads? Is it cool with you that the Bay Alarm radio ads make jokes about an alarm to notify the A's fans if the team leaves town?

Shouldn't a team prohibit their own advertisers from making jokes about lack of longevity? How does allowing jokes like that help foster a fan base????

If i was the Coliseum Authority, reading all these tea leaves... I'd have emergency injunction paperwork already typed and sitting on a shelf to try and prevent a Robert Irsay moving-trucks-at-midnight type of move.

Until I see more positive words from Wolff or anybody in the A's organization about staying in Oakland or building a park in Oakland, these guys are weasels who have no backbones with the way they are handling this mess.

Las Vegas A's

was in plans from start

why?

developers get the deals done

schott was a developer and NEVER delivered or even TRIED to do it.

Wolff is a developer who had 2 yrs to fig out where to build he was payed to fig out where to build now he talks bull shit.

Joseph Goebels would be proud of these guys.

was he a carpetbagger?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By jeffreyb on Sunday, June 26, 2005 - 09:14 pm:

The trouble with calling Wolff a carpetbagger, even if true, is that historically, a carpetbagger was a DAMN YANKEE!

:-)

on Beane, to Wolff

Substance ppppppppppppppplease. Where is a park proposed in Fremont? General Motors has already said no. Pacific Commons is far away from public transportation and the developers there are building a massive shopping center and an auto mall since it is located on Auto Mall Parkway.

I don't think we should overlook Sacamento which has lots of sites at much lower costs than the Bay Area and the best attendance in the minors which Vegas cannot boast. Vegas attendance is poor by AAA leevels.

Interestingly enough, according to this article, Wolff contacted fremont a year ago, and expressed interest in building a baseball village in Fremont. He even sent the mayor an email expressing those exact interests. So, why did he hold a press conference in August of last year saying Oakland was priority 1?

I was never fooled by him and wished all along I would be eating crow one day soon...

but I've come to the conclusion that Selig would have NEVER allowed the A's to change hands unless it would be to another conniving liar just like him.

What A's fans should realize is that if Wolff and Co. lie to Oakland, they would also lie to Fremont or any other city at the bat of an eye...so...in a way, Fremont might very well be
calling their bluff very unaware of things to come.

Go back and look at the beginning of this thread. It started almost exactly a year ago. Note Rono's comment on the Pacific Commons site--too far away from BART.

If I'm a Fremont taxpayer, this is the part that would worry me ...

http://www.insidebayarea.com/argus/localnews/ci_3895467

Fremont's not-so-good news revolved around its ongoing budget woes, which might force the city to dip into its reserves for the first time.

"We're again facing a budget with insufficient revenue," Wasserman grimly said. Crime is increasing, fire and emergency response times are worsening, and the city's roads are deteriorating and growing more full of potholes.

Looks like Fremonts budget is in pretty bad shape, and still no deal with Cisco.

According to this article, if Santa Clara county voters approve the sales tax increase for trasnportation, Bart will be extended to San Jose, and according to Bart spokesman, that would have a direct effect on the completion of the Warm Springs bart station.

As to jesse's post above:

"In Santa Clara County, voters rebuffed Measure A, a general county services tax measure aimed at raising money for transportation improvements, including BART to San Jose."

raiderjohn, did you notice the date on that article? It's from April. For some reason, that article is still linked on the Inside Bay Area front page.
