So what did Chavy kick Stew to the curb?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By finleyshero on Thursday, September 29, 2005 - 09:19 am:

How much service to you need to be arbitration eligible?

Are Ellis, Calero, Duksher, and/or Sarloos eligible?

Wonder if they kept Cruz in AAA so long in part so they wouldn't have to pay him in arbitration?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By drummer510 on Friday, September 30, 2005 - 10:44 am:

Dude jerry, you are the man puttin this shit together. I always wanted to find out bout contracts a crap, and here it is.

Anways, players not to resign or let go:

Ken Macha: will have a much better time in NL and rebuilding the Pirates with young talent.

Ricardo Rincon: Proved his ineffectiveness last year and reinforced it this year with, some control problems.

Erubiel Durazo: We got DJ

Scott Hatteberg: I hope he just retires, and works with Beane, he such an asset to this club, but we got some young guns comin up, and we all know we want a bigger rh bat. Sorry Hatte.

Keichi Yabu: The experiment failed. Either go back to Japan or play Triple A, dont have the control or velocity to play in the big leagues. Too many pitches right down the middle of the plate.

Keith Ginter: either send him to AAA or trade or release him, we got two legit second basemen, and could pick up a better fielding 2nd baseman in Free Agents or trade for one.

Players on the fence:

Octavio Dotel: If he's willin to be a set up man, and have some control, then by all means bring him back, especially if he's willing to sign for a little less.

Adam Melhuse: Some ppl. wanted him to start over Kendall (I didn't), but we do have Jeremy Brown and Kurt Suziki (SP) waiting in the ranks. I would say let him go, but maybe having him play back up for one more year wouldn't be so bad either. Also Kendall plays like 95% of the games, and you could tell that Melhuse was gettin pretty bored.

Joe Kennedy: A solid relief pitcher for long relief, and could take over as our lefty set up man (I wouldn't feel to comfortable with that). Ineffective starter, a crappier version of Mark Redman.

Jay Witasick: If Dotel is comin back, i say we dont need this guy, cause we got Calero and the Duke but the more arms in the bullpen the better. Don't care.

Players that need to be resigned:
Zito
Payton
Scutaro (Please beane have sympathy for marco)
Juan Cruz (Even though he sucked in majors)
All the other young rookies that came up this year, especially DJ, Street, Swish.

Notes:
-Kotsay looked old this year, the back thing made him look less graceful, and he looked tired for most of the year, cept beginning.

-Hopefully, Chavy will get his shit together and take some meditation classes to calm him self down. Both in how much he swings and how much he talks.

-Maybe Kendall will learn how hit homeruns.

-Crosby needs to bulk up (BALCO?).

-DJ needs to get his family and friends out to oakland so he can hit the way he did at the metrodome.

-Washington needs to become the manager (Please not another Beane puppet)

-Joe Morgan needs to stop announcing and enroll in a public speaking class, a reading comprihention class, while attending a mental institution.

-Oakland City council has to start the planning of a new stadium process.

-There needs to be a west coast sports News channel, that actually cares bout west coast sports.

-....uhh... ...uh.. ..oh ya, hopefully the Raiders can win a game.

Go A's,

Dito except for Cruz send that mental case somewhere else. Melhuse could DH until Barton is ready. The kid from CAL could spell Kendall behind the plate every once in awhile.

Thanks for the props folks, but actually the info was emailed to me. I have since found the source for the list, as well as all other MLB teams player/contract status here.

Sorry to not give credit where it was deserved originally.

bring in a stick bb. dont' hire stupid MGRs bb.

re kotsay, he did look a tad old. remember the guy has a history of back problems (the trade for him hinged on passing a physicial). then the a's sign him to an extension and then look what happened. aye vey.
