This probably is bad news for ballpark proponents, but I guess we'll have to take a wait and see attitude.

whoops, correct spelling is Dellums.

Why is he anti-park?

The next mayor of Oakland, the A's future really is on his watch.

Good chance that whatever side he picks, could push the momentum behind a new park or if the next mayor goes in the route of Brown, then the park idea could be just an afterthought.

Anyway, whether that be IDLF or Dellums, they're probably be the mayor who either helped saved the A's or wasn't a big enough backer with the A's leaving Oakland. I wouldn't want to be in their shoes and the legacy they leave if they lose the only pro franchise that was pro Oakland most of the time they were here while the Raiders/W's still probably don't recognize themselves as an Oakland team through and through.

I have heard Dellums is pro-stadium.

That would be great billymac, IMO Dellums is a socialist and anti-big business. Hope I'm wrong, because he would be worse than a silent Jerry Brown, if he was against it. Who knows? Maybe he's still the guy that has some pull in the right places, but will he use it to get us a park in Oakland?

Dellums is no 20 year old pie in the sky, second year college socialist, he's a 70 year old man who has been around the block a few times and is wise enough and experienced enough to know the best social program you can give anybody is a J-O-B. I'm pretty confident any platform to come out of his camp will encourage further investment and development in Oakland. It will probably have a stronger push to include more affordable housing, and local hiring, which are all good in my book.

Well some would consider eminent domain to be a socialist concept, and that would be necessary to acquire the land that Wolff and Co are talking about building on. And Jerry Brown was pro-business and was against a ballpark, so I think your stereotyping works against you on that point.

I feel some of you are baiting me to get into political disputes. I had considered he might be for "eminent domain" billymac, but I'm not stereotyping. Just look at his record via a google search, there are references about him not only being an avowed socialist, but a communist too. This may not bother some people, but that philosophy led to the deaths of over 100 million people (see USSR/China/Cambodia/Cuba)last century. Hopefully Dellums has mellowed w/age as ramjet stated and I am open minded he can save the A's for Oakland. For the record, I am a libertarian & personally don't like eminent domain.

He most certainly is a socialist, my point was that this doesn't necessarily mean he would be against a ballpark. Also, just because someone on the internet says he is a communist doesn't mean he is. I could find you thousands of internet sources that say Bush is a fascist, but that doesn't make it true.
