1) Too early.
2) Mark Mulder deal.

You're kidding right? While it's too early to make a real assessment .269/.366/.462 isn't exactly tearing it up. And what about the Mulder or Byrnes trades? I'd say the A's came out on top on those deals.
Ethier was a talent but there was no way the A's were gonna call him up and become anything more than a backup in the big leagues with this team.
The OF depth of Kostay, Swisher, Payton, Bradley, Kielty....there was no room for him.
So you'd basically waste his talents on the bench most likely and I was alright with the move to deal him. A's probably thought more in Barton, Herrera, and maybe Buck as hitting prospects.
The ONLY PROSPECT who I feel sad we traded away was Bonderman who looks like he'll be a top of the caliber SP for the next decade...the dude is a horse.

Sacto, don't forget the Cruz for Halsey stinkaroo.
OAK 3 2 3.84 21 6 0 0 0 0 58.2 64 27 25 8 4 27 29
ARI 3 3 4.05 14 7 0 0 0 0 46.2 34 21 21 3 8 24 41
No way in hell Juan Cruz holds the Dodgers scoreless for 5 innings like Halsey did in that 17 inning win last Saturday.
The Ethier trade still sucks.
