Nice article about Karsay from the A's website.

According to Kuiper at the end of today's telecast, Karsay announced his retirement this morning. What a class guy. Best of luck to him.

When Karsay got into last night's marathon I was like gameover!....for the A's but hey he stuck in there, a nice note to go out on.

He made his first big league start with the A's and his last appearance -- a win -- with the A's. Nice symmetry!

Buan interviewed him after the game and he said he would love to stay with the A's organization in some capacity. That would be nice.

Still remember that duel he had against the Big Unit in 97 in the Kingdome I believe. He was along with Van Poppel the two aces the A's pitching staff would be built around but at least Karsay had a semi-decent career in MLB.

Good luck to him...

Beane is in Germany watching the World Cup? Does that mean Macha is actually in charge?

Well, Street credits Karsay for turning his season around and thinks he'd make a good pitching coach somewhere. Hey, he may be right.

Evidently Street was the only player who knew Saturday nite that Karsay was going to retire the next day. As Street was sitting on the top of the dugout steps with the rest of the guys(CWS style) in the 17th inning, knowing that Karsay could be in line for the win, he said that helped alleviate the pain in having blown the save.
