WHAT: UPTOWN BALLPARK VS FOREST CITY PROJECT!
WHERE: OAKLAND CITY HALL
WHEN: July 9th and July 23rd
WHY: KEEP THE 20TH/TELEGRAPH MASTER PLAN ALIVE

There are two meetings coming up where your letters, attendance, and
testimony are crucial. On July 9th the City Council's Community and
Economic Development Committee will discuss the Forest City ENA for the
Uptown housing project. The Committee is chaired by Jane Brunner, and
members are Dick Spees, Ignacio De La Fuente and Larry Reid, and it meets at
10:30 a.m. in City Hall Hearing Room #1.

The Committee's action will be forwarded to the City Council at its meeting
of July 23, 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.

If the Council approves the 12 month Exclusive Negotiating Agreement, it
will be a severe blow to our efforts to pursue a downtown master plan with
ballpark, housing and entertainment. Now is the time for you to weigh in
and let your opinion be heard. Spread the word!

As we have seen in following this political process, there are constant
changes with agenda removals and additions as the process moves forward.

Please email us at July@oaklandfans.com and let us know if you can attend
either or both meetings. We will coordinate and sign up speakers and keep
in touch as the news unfolds.

This is an important phase of the ballpark drive and we should not waste this
opportunity to make our voices heard. The OAFC board will be speaking
for the over 4 thousand Oakland residents who have signed the ballpark petition
drive but it is important to have Oakland residents' representation at the
meetings.
