Too bad the injury forced him into retirement. We rejuventated his career, paid him 6 million for that season and he went on to win a ring with the Sox.

Well it was one of Beane's better trades when he traded Koch for Foulke who's career looked almost dead as a legit closer when he was a setup man in the ChiSox's bullpen.

Still can't forgive Foulke for blowing that lead in Game 4 of the ALDS in the 8th when he gave up that 2B to Ortiz to give up the lead.

Foulke's the fourth biggest POS in A's history, superceded only by Kenny Rogers, Jason Giambi and McGwire.

With Foulke retiring, giving CLE one less option for a closer...would the talks between the A's and CLE heat up since the A's have a glut of RP, 3 as of now who could probably close in Calero, Duke, and Street.

Now Street is staying, but maybe Duke as I don't think CLE would want Calero. Duke probably could close for a # of teams right now and his value probably isn't gonna get much higher and doesn't he have like one more left on his contract so this could be his last year with the A's and long term, if the A's think about keeping him...his back problems are a major concern.

Losing Duke would hurt but the A's pen is as deep as it's ever been really both in the majors currently and the minors. Even if the A's do trade Duke, would be the most horrible thing just to promote both Gaudin and Calero up an inning with Calero taking over as the 8th inning man and Gaudin who was great last year to be the 7th inning RP.

Know the addition of Stewart change a lot, especially if he can stay remotely healthy, but if CLE is desperate and offers up something good like maybe that Garko kid which was a rumor months ago...be hard not to think about right?

cleveland has Borowski and a couple of kids. I think they'll monitor things before showing desperation. Aside from that, Geren has said he is going to use Street primarily in the 9th, since many of his league leading blown saves occurred in 2 inning stints...so with that in mind, addition of Stewart, going after Garko at this point is very remote.

Say what you will about Foulke. He can afford seats at Cisco Field while many of you low-rent Oakland degenerates consider deodorant a luxury item. I know this first hand having sat next to many of you filthy bums in the past. Can't wait 'til we bring the A's to Fremont where people have a little class and sophistication...
