A's win their Phoenix home opener today, thanks to late inning hits by Barton and Buck.

Not a good start for some of the young arms these past two games. Windsor and Komine have gotten rocked.

Bradley and Scutaro are looking like in midseason from last season.

Nice to see the young kids hitting well.

Kennedy got rocked today as well.

Windsor and Komine have gotten rocked.

It's Spring Training and they're young, all part of the process of being a big league. Even the Bay Area's media darling of Matt Cain got rocked today by other Brewers squad who pounded the Giants 21-2.

Well not a good way to start off the season for two guys who most peg to be on this team opening day in Kennedy and Windsor.

Think Kennedy even if he bombs in ST will get a spot in the bullpen at least, Windsor, not so sure about if he struggles. I know it's the very first game or two in ST but not a good way to start it off for those two.

Wonder when D.Meyer will get his shot? Really looking forward to seeing him do well and maybe just maybe have something to contribute with the big league team this season.

A's game on radio tomorrow. 106.9, finally a station I can hear A's games on when it's gonna be loud and clear. :)

Haren got into his first game today.

2 IP, 1 hit, 5 Ks. :)

Correction, Harden pitched his first game today, Haren pitched yesterday.

Anyways, was watching BBTN and Gammons picks the A's as his team to watch in AL West...they had each analyst pick a team so it was basically scripted out.

Mentioned Harden if he can stay healthy can win 20 games, Haren potentially ia as good as any #2 and said the one prospect to watch for the A's would be Travis Buck who he wouldn't be surprised if he came up in summer, like in AUG.

Count on Gammons to tell us what we already know...

Goleski is 0-15 so far in ST...not impressive when Kielty's injury open the door wide open for you.

Wonder if he's still have problems with his wrists.

Nice win over the gnats today, 5-3. E-Lo came out with some kind of boo-boo after 20 pitches and 2 homeruns given up, one to Bonds.

All the other pitchers pitched well, in particular Harden.

Kennedy getting hammered again today.

Yep, JK is getting killed in ST these first few weeks, has close to a 16 ERA. Really out of the group of JK, BH, JW, and SK...SK is the only one whos been pitching well so far this spring.

Durazo also looks like he's well ahead of DJ at this point. Durazo hit a HR today and has 7 RBIs while hitting .304 while DJ is hitting .208. At this point, how could you chose DJ to be on the opening day roster over Durazo.

At least they A's didn't fold when they were down 5-1 in the 8th.

That's the problem that has been a pattern, and is causing me some concern. The players that are mentioned above by Oaktownfan are the ones responsible for the A's late inning comebacks this spring, and they won't be on the team when the bell rings.

I know that spring training doesn't mean anything, but it would be nice if the regulars could crush somebody occasionally.

Don't forget, A's game is televised tonight on FSNBA.

7 PM matchup between the halloween team and the A's. :)

Harden so far is pitching lights out.

2 IP and 5 Ks. :)

Damn, if only he could stay healthy for an entire season.

Alright, I think the A's should seriously be thinking about maybe putting Windsor as the #5 starter to start the season.

Kennedy, I know it's ST, but he's just got blasted AGAIN today. 2 IP and gave up 6 hits/5 ERs. He has an ERA of 17.36 now.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By sactofan (67.174.35.250) on Saturday, March 17, 2007 - 02:07 pm:

Kennedy has shown that he is a good reliever and a terrible starter. But knowing the A's, they will go with him - they always do stuff like that. Is Windsor a lefty or righty?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By oaktownfan (75.61.85.177) on Saturday, March 17, 2007 - 04:00 pm:

Well the A's said they'll still sticking by Kennedy even though he's had to have one good outing so far in ST.

Windsor is a righty...though at best he is a #4 if we're very very lucky...he doesn't possess the most dominant of stuff.

Update on Kennedy's stats today against MIL

-2.1 IP, 10 hits, 9 ERs which raises his ERA to 20.48 now.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By oaktownfan (75.61.85.177) on Saturday, March 17, 2007 - 04:15 pm:

Marshall did have two shutout innings and he looked impressive Monday night I believe against SF. He has a 2.89 ERA, I hope he makes the team.

But if somehow Kennedy continues to struggle and gets put back into the pen where he was very successful last season, then I doubt the A's will keep Marshall with two LHs in the pen already with Kennedy and Embree.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By eyleenn (71.131.47.23) on Saturday, March 17, 2007 - 08:53 pm:

Marshall is Rule 5, isn't he? He shows some promise. It would be nice to keep him around.

Blanton's outing yesterday wasn't very encouraging either...

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message   By oaktownfan (75.61.85.184) on Sunday, March 18, 2007 - 04:33 pm:

Yes, Marshall is a rule 5 pick. I don't know if the A's could work something out with I believe ChiSox, but I think he's a keeper long term for this bullpen.

Good win by the A's today. Down 5-3 in the 9th and the A's rallied to win the game 6-5. Buck is doing very well in ST, went 2-2 with 2 BBs today including getting the 9th inning rally started with a single and for the spring, he's hitting .357.

Windsor who pitched for the other split squad team Sunday did very well..4 IP/4 hits/ER...dropping his ERA to 6.48

6.48 isn't great but it's a hell of a lot better than Kennedy's 20.48 ERA this ST.

Amazing, Buck had another great game today.

Went 3-4 with 2 RBIs, and his AVG is now .409.

Jerry, have you heard who the A's are taking north?

and is Jared Burton sticking with the Reds?

These are burning questions that I need to know answers to, so I've gone to the definitive A's source.
