I think so. Isn't Piazza a one year deal and Frank is two years probably with more money on the back end.

By the way I can't remember the site but it listed A's payroll at 79.6 million and the Giants at 90 million.

How many people in the Bay Area would believe that the Giants payroll is only 10 million more than the Giants.

Thomas got a $9 million signing bonus right up front (some say that's the main reason he signed, he needed a bunch of $$ right now). Most of the rest of his three year contact salary will be earned in future years, not this one.

and yes, Piazza's deal is for one year only -- at his request, since he wasn't sure how he would like DHing. The A's had been willing to sign him for two years. (and the deal they had offered Thomas was for two years.)

The Big Hurt had his TV commercial banned in Canada for "excessive violence".

Thomas's contract with Toronto is a 2 year deal with a 9.12 million signing bonus due this past January. He is to receive a 1 million salary for 2007 and 8 million for 2008. Thomas as mentioned above wanted money up front. A's weren't willing to do it. So that figure is inaccurate.

We're also getting 5 million from Pittsburgh to pay part of Kendall's salary for this season.
