A’s Reinstate Bradley from DL; Designate Bocachica for Assignment
OAKLAND, Calif. - The Oakland A’s today reinstated outfielder Milton Bradley from the 15-day Disabled List and designated outfielder Hiram Bocachica for assignment. Right-handed pitcher David Shafer, who was designated for assignment last Friday, has cleared waivers and has been assigned outright to Triple-A Sacramento. The A’s also announced that they have acquired outfielder Dee Brown from the Arizona Diamondbacks in a minor league trade in exchange for cash considerations.
Bradley is batting .275 with two home runs and six RBI in 15 games with the A’s this year. He was placed on the Disabled List a week ago today retroactive to May 15 with a strained left hamstring and this was his second stint on the DL this year. Bradley was also on from April 23 to May 10 with the same injury and went 4 for 13 (.308) with a home run and three RBI in four games in between his stints on the DL.
Bocachica was selected from Sacramento on May 16 and hit .059 with a home run and three RBI in six games with Oakland. He made five starts in center field and went 0 for his first 12 before homering a week ago today at Chicago for his only hit this year.
Shafer is 1-1 with a 4.88 ERA in 17 relief appearances with Sacramento. He was acquired from Cincinnati in January in the Kirk Saarloos trade.
Brown was batting .282 with two home runs and 24 RBI in 41 games with Triple-A Tucson in the Arizona organization. He appeared in 263 games for Kansas City from 1999-2004 and is a .234 career hitter in the Majors with 14 home runs and 89 RBI.
I thought Dee Brown was a basketball player!
Which basketball player, the dunker or the former Illini playing for the Jazz?
