He has some interesting things to say. He'd "welcome" Bonds as a teammate. He resents the "beating" he has taken from the fans over his poor play the last couple of years, when he's been playing at only 30-40 percent, and will be playing with a chip on his shoulder next season.

Apparently the rumors were strong that Bonds was going to end up with the A's {shudder}, but the indictment has changed that.

Nothing suprising here. Eric has said some off-the-wall things in the past. He acknowledged that it's been great to be in Oakland, that he wants to stay here, that the fans who really follow the team have been wonderful, he put Marco in both the player context - he filled in superbly - but also in the fans' context with those spectactular game winning memories. He DOES have a chip on his shoulder - why doesn't everyone realize I've played like crap because my body has only been 40% - that's also typical Eric - something as seen from his eyes and not seeing it from a typical fan's eyes. The only scary thing is more confirmation that the A's might've really been on a track for Barry Bonds.

Sigh. Eric, you don't get it. We're not pissed because you're unproductive -- we're pissed at you because of WHY you're unproductive: you're unhealthy, not fit for playing, and yet take the field.

Cut it out, get fit, then play with your little chip on your shoulder if you must. Until then, stay off the field.
