From what I hear Mark Kotsay is a great guy, but I have no interest in going into next year with him as the starter.

Despite the money paid to Hunter and Jones I still think that Mike Cameron should be a possibility for the A's. Yes he has a 25 game suspension due but that's about as much as we will probably get out of Kotsay before he breaks down.

Do you think he is worth a Jose Guillen type contract? Not that Jose Guillen was worth a Jose Gullen type contract but you get the point.

12 million per, too much. I mean if you're gonig to give out that kind of cash, should have just given it to Miggy. I wouldn't pay Cameron that much. 2 years 10 million. 3 years 36 is just crazy.

Definitely agree that Kotsay can't be the starter going into next year, we need a MLB starting CF out there whenthe season opens, Swish should not be considered, takes away from his bat.

Granted, no doubt the A's biggest need is a centerfielder, but evidently Wolffie and Beane are smoking some weird stuff, because they seem to think they need the cheating cretin in their lineup. If they sign Bonds, I fully question the integrity of the A's brass. We already know that they don't care about their faithful fans and this organization has not, since Haas owned it. And they wonder why they can't fill the seats here. Besides, do they really think Barroids will allow them to compete with the Angels ... and even the M's? By asking too much for Haren and Blanton, they are failing to start rebuilding and perhaps putting a very competitive team out there within two seasons instead of four or five.

I wonder how many lockers and lounging chairs Barroids will get?

Gotta play devil's advocate here. Can't help it.

-- Bonds has an incredible OBP.
-- We all know Billy still highly values OBP.
-- Nobody else wants to touch Bonds.
-- Billy can probably get a deal for him.
-- Cheap OBP!

Given that: yes, Bonds is a cheat, a liar and an idiot on top of all those. But the dude performs. So...why are we surprised that Billy may be pursuing him?

Billy's never let his emotions guide him: he's never hung on to fan favorites "just because," and conversely he's willing to sign an a-hole if the guy has the right numbers. If nothing else, the guy's consistent.

I realize this is an emotional matter for many of us, but on paper, it's a very good deal. And the paper is all Billy's ever looked at.
