As an A's fan I have come to "understand" our situation (well kind of).

But what is the excuse in Baltimore? How could a team with decent revenues, a nice park, etc. still screw things up the way they have?

Ummm...just so you know, the package they just got was TREMENDOUS...they made out like bandits for a guy who is 29, has durability issues and will be making a ton of money very soon. They got a solid lefty bullpen pitcher, 2 very very good and HUGE (6'5 and 6'7) starters, and one of the best offensive OF prospects in baseball - and another player.

This, in tandem with them moving miggy a day before the mitchell report, makes their GM in the "#1 with a bullet" title.

Screw the Orioles. I've never forgiven them for beating the A's in 1971.

I wouldn't cry for the O's - they have had a cheap ass and dumb owner and front office for years. Finally, they are making the moves necessary to suck on purpose (by rebuilding) instead of sucking by accident (dumb ass, moronic personnel moves).

I am very happy to see their return. The 3 pitchers they got are very exciting, I found out that 3rd pitcher is 6'9!!! SO they got 6'5, 6'7 and 6'9 pitchers who all throw hard and project to #2 starters, a proven, solid left handed bullpen arm who may take over at closer this year and one of the top offensive prospects in baseball - who can also play a mean CF, in Adam Jones.

They add Jones to Nick Markakis and Luke Scott, they have a nice little OF there. I still feel that Daniel Cabrera will get it together, one of these days. I am not sure how far off those 3 new pitchers are from competing, but they are taking necessary steps (finally) to grow the team.
