I guess Foulke doesn't care about being a winner anymore (that's what he said he wanted when after stringing along the A's he signed with the Sux in 2003)

Here's the link:

Yeah the new one is the "a's have won with less talent" line in the new quote. He's also obviously going for the more money too.

It's going to be really hard to root for this turd burglar again. It wasn't even that he decided on the sox over the a's, it was that AND that he strung it along like he was freaking Babe Ruth or something. Dude, you were Keith Foulke.

As someone on the other board mentioned, Billy Beane's saved his career once, maybe again? I hope this is as bullpen fodder and not as a replacement for Street if he's dealt (would rather see a younger guy in that role). Though we just released Wes Bankston from the roster to make this move, a guy who used to be a monster power prospect, was forced to move to 3b from 1b and his stats declined. But he's a big boy and was slated back at first. I was very interested in seeing what he could bring to the table, I like when Beane brings in these past top prospects to see what they can do on our roster.

Oh well.

Who was Mark Johnson???

Johnson was the catcher that Beane was so high on. He served as Ramon's backup for the first part of 03 before Melhuse got called up. Johnson sucked.

I like this move. If Foulke is effective he can be flipped for more prospects.

I do think Foulke is a punk for splitting in 04. It cost the A's the Division and garnered the Sux a title. With Foulke the A's would have cruised to the division title. Instead we had to watch Arthur Rhodes and Octavio Dotel implode the season. Unforgivable.

I'm willing to look at this move with an open mind.

I'm not the guy's biggest fan after the fiasco that resulted in the Sox signing... but hey he's an A now and I'll support him.

Did not Foulky retire last season and pat himself on the back for doing so? Something to the effect he did not want to waste Boston's money or a roster spot...maybe he is here to light a fire under Street..

'thought closers are supposed to put out fires...
it seems to me "foulky" is just another Dave Justice who will end up being traded to a bench on a post season team at the end of the season.

Foulke is a mystery.
This signing is odd....
oh well.
